The following message was e-mailed to Scott Hornbuckle by the father of Robert Moore (13th Company).

--------------------------------------------------

Dear Scott, I called you last night, but no joy.

I am Robert's father. You may know that he finished his tour in Fallon, NV, and joined his squadron, VF/A-25, The Fist of the Fleet, about a year ago. He was due to deploy on the USS Stennis two weeks ago; however, about eight weeks ago Robert began to have severe stomach cramps. He was sent home a couple of time with suspected "food poisoning." Finally, it became so bad that his wife, Tara, took him to
Balboa Naval Hospital where after many tests they diagnosed him with adenocarcinoma (cancer) of the small intestine! He was already in stage
four, so two weeks ago Robert had surgery to remove the main tumor. Unfortunately, the cancer had spread to his liver and abdomen; the former was resected, but the latter will take chemotherapy. Which
course of action Robert and Tara will take with the chemo is being investigated now, as they interview various oncologists. It is going to be a tough battle for him, so I am sure that he would want his
classmates to know that he is out of action now and in for the fight of his life. His address is 3412 Zola St., San Diego, CA 92106, although they will be moving in a couple of weeks to another house nearby. His Email is rbrevard3@hotmail.com. I know that he would appreciate any support his classmates can give.

Best regards, Brev Moore, USNA '63.
