| This is the week that so many of you write or e-mail me to let us know that we (and Lisa) are not forgotten... thank you! Some of you, in previous years, have asked what I would suggest for you to do to honor Lisa's memory. I usually give pretty much the same advice that was on a sympathy card I recently saw: The greatest gift we can give those who have left us is to live fully in their place. I still think that is a great answer, but for those of you who've wanted something more concrete, this year I have a suggestion. Lisa's baby sister, Amanda (15 now - amazing, huh?)has received a nomination (the only one at her high school)to attend a 10 day medical forum this summer. She wants to go into emergency medicine and is really excited about this opportunity to interact with doctors, researchers, and other future medical students from acroos the US. However, she's going to need help. She is now working on raising the money (around $3,000) that she will need in order to be able to go. She's already raised $300; the first $100 was from Lisa, left in a Navy Federal account in Amanda's name to go towards her education. The application deadline is Dec. 28, but the sooner she gets her application and check in, the better chance she has of getting a spot. If you'd like more details or want to make a donation of any amount, e-mail me and I'll send you more information. Also, if you have any messages of encouragement for Amanda or stories about Lisa that you think she'd like to hear, send them to me and I'll make sure she gets them. She was 4 when Lisa left for USNA and 7 when Lisa died; the older she gets, the more she misses her sister and the more she wants to know about her.
