Thursday 9/13, I visited the Wash. Hospital Center today (Kevin is in the burn unit 4H), but could not see Kevin due to the medication he was on and his status. His family is keeping a constant vigil with him. I was able to meet his mom and a cousin and we spent about 30 minutes together. His story is an amazing one, a young Army Sgt. rescued Kevin, he literally extinguished his burning body and carried him to safety. Kevin was concious the entire way to Walter Reed and was even able to give the Sgt his wife Blanca's (USNA '95) cell phone # before going into shock. He has burns on his upper half of his body and has a throat tube right now, keeping him from speaking beyond mouthing words. Also Thursday President Bush visted his room and told him they would go golfing together when he was better, and the Press Secretary gave his parents his card to ensure it would really happen. Mrs. Bush hugged Kevin's mom and spent sometime talking to them.
