CJ, thanks so much for your post. We have a picture of her from that trip that she had enlarged for us but didn't get to give us (it came in her stuff later on, marked to give to us for Christmas), of her standing on the deck of the YP dressed in a USNA sweatshirt and khakis with an oil spot on one pants leg and her hair hanging in her face, grinning widely in front of a gorgeous sunset. I think she turned 21 on that trip; her birthday is Aug. 17. We never heard much about that trip, so I appreciate it. Thanks. To the rest of y'all: if anyone else has gouge to share with us, please feel free to do so. It brings us joy, not sorrow, to hear about her exploits. We all love "Lisa stories". They were the best part of the USNA memorial service and time in Dahlgren afterwards and we've treasured every one we've ever gotten. We know almost nothing about her brief time on the USS Gato, besides a photo or two and the paperwork, and not a whole lot more about her time on the USS White Plains (although from that one, we do have a few letters, more pix and a ball cap!)Info, anyone? God bless y'all and Happy Thanksgiving! Mrs. Winslow |
