September 22, 2001 Yesterday was a difficult day for everyone. However, today Jay's body has been responding positively to the Manuitor (helps control cranial pressure). The doctors have changed his dosage from every 3 hours to every 4 hours (a good sign). The plan is to keep Jay on this medication for 3-4 days and evaluate how is body responds. We are hoping and praying that his body stabilizes so the doctors can reduce the paralytic drug and bring him out of his current state. September 23, 2001 Jay had a good night. Jay is controlling his cranial pressure and the doctors have reduced the amount of Manuitor. I just returned from the hospital and the family is hanging in there. Nurse just shaved Jay and he looks good. He is now in a new room by himself rather in the ICU ward. Finally, I apologize if I'm unable to answer all of your inquiries directly. I took time off from work to help out, but I'll have to return to work tomorrow. So from tomorrow forward, John Knox will take over as much of the communications as possible. He is from Jay's squadron at Corpus Christi and will be in town until Wednesday. It's our deepest hope that Jay will be awake by then. John will send out updates via email. Please forward this email to anyone you feel should know about Jay's condition and include John Knox (Johnfk72@earthlink.com) as a "cc", so we can build a directory to keep everyone abreast of Jay's condition. John's primary focus is to tend to Kathryn's needs. Unless absolutely necessary, please do not contact him directly. Thanks for your understanding and please keep Jay in your thoughts and prayers. -Matt |
