It's really great to see the progress Jay is making everyday. The sedation dosages are gradually being reduced and his consciousness and recognition of family and friends is exceptional thus far. For example, his ability to focus on specific things (i.e. pictures and people) and respond to questions has impressed nurses and doctors. He was clenching Kathryn's hand, attempting to talk to us, and nodding/shaking his head. Tomorrow the doctors are hoping to be able to remove the respirator and accompanying tubes. This will enable further reduction in the sedation medication, and allow the wrist restraints to be removed improving his overall comfort. We're all very happy with his progress, and his doctor is still expecting to transfer Jay to Rehab by the end of this week! We'll make sure to keep you posted as to where he'll go from here.
Again, thanks for all the wonderful support.
